
George Rae (DAVID) trained under Mary Hammond at the Royal Academy of Music, London where he gained a Postgraduate Performance Diploma (Distinction) and the LRAM in singing teaching. He holds a BMus from the Ian Tomlin School of Music, Napier University and recently graduated as a music teacher, gaining a Postgraduate Certificate of Education from the University of Greenwich and Trinity College of Music.
George recently returned from a three-month tour of the USA and Canada with Britain’s oldest opera company - the Carl Rosa Opera Company – where he performed HMS Pinafore and understudied the role of ‘Ko-Ko’ in The Mikado. Prior to this he played the role of the musician ‘Schlomo Metzenbaum’ in a special celebrity production of the musical Fame alongside the legendary Barbara Dickson (Adam Spiegel Productions).
Other performing credits include: ‘Man 1’ in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change for Music Theatre Ireland (Andrews Lane Theatre/Pavilion Theatre Dublin 2006/7, Edinburgh Festival 2005/6); ‘Benjamin’ in the West End revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring Stephen Gately (New London Theatre, Covent Garden and National Tour); Lead soloist for Music Theatre Ireland’s production of Simply Sondheim (Liberty Hall, Dublin); ‘Rick’ in the Heather Brothers’ Tenth Anniversary National Tour of A Slice Of Saturday Night alongside Norman Pace; ‘Dandini’ in Cinderella (Mad About Productions); ‘Man 1’ in And The World Goes Round (2002 Edinburgh Festival); Soloist in A Dickens of a Christmas (Jermyn Street Theatre, London); ‘Ko-Ko’ in The Mikado (Kings Theatre, Edinburgh); and for the Royal Academy of Music, ‘Rick’ in A Slice Of Saturday Night, ‘Nicely-Nicely’ in Guys & Dolls (scene) and ‘De-Flores’ in The Changeling.
Television work includes ‘Herbie’ in An Enchanted Evening alongside Dame Judi Dench and Ruthie Henshall (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, musically directed by David Charles Abell) for BBC4 and Taggart (Scottish Television).
